Sellers International Band

The Band was formed in January 1986 by Phillip McCann as Huddersfield Tecol Band and then in November 1987 it came under the Sellers banner when the band changed its name to Sellers College Brass. Subsequently it became Sellers Engineering Band and now, following changes in the Sellers Group, it is known as Sellers International Band.

The band has an excellent competition success record and in November 2003 were awarded runner up place at the “Brass in Concert” Championship, followed by 3rd prize at the inaugural “Scottish Open Championship” and in May 2004 won the Grand Shield Contest. This spell of success following much hard work culminated in the band being placed 5th in the British Open Championships in September 2004, and again runner up at the "Brass in Concert" championship in November 2004. The band is currently placed in the top ten in the “Brass Band World” rankings table.

Sellers International have recorded twenty CD’s in their short history and their latest releases are available by mail order from International House, Chapel Hill, Huddersfield and are on sale at all concerts.

As a concert band Sellers are much in demand and regularly perform to full houses in all parts of the UK, having appeared in Crawley, Ipswich, Stroud and Telford this year as well as many local performances including Huddersfield Town Hall and York Minster.

One of the major benefits of the Sellers International Group sponsorship of the Band is the ability to raise money for charity and the total raised by the band since joining Sellers is well in excess of £200,000.
